AP 3D Art and Design
Welcome to AP 3D Art and Design! This is an advanced level course that is designed for students who want to develop beyond mastery in their art making skills. The course is developed as a college level course completed at the high school level. The expectations and grading are that of a college level course. Please understand that this course will be rigorous and will require full participation on your part. Requirements for the final portfolio are developed by the College Board Advanced Placement Program, including a Selected Works and a Sustained Investigation Section that consists of advanced level artworks, including written documentation about processes, ideas, and materials used in each piece.
The AP Art and Design course framework presents an inquiry-based approach to learning about and making art and design. Students will be expected to experiment with a range of materials and approaches through given sculpture assignments that show a range of approaches. After completing class assignments, students are expected to conduct an in-depth sustained investigation of materials, processes, and ideas. The framework focuses on concepts and skills emphasized within college art and design foundations courses with the same intent: to help students become inquisitive, thoughtful artists and designers able to articulate information about their work. AP Art and Design students develop and apply skills of inquiry and investigation, practice, experimentation, revision, communication, and reflection.
